Walk around any modern vehicle and you’re surrounded by EVA foam — you just can’t see most of it. It’s sealing the doors, quieting the cabin, cushioning the trim and protecting components you’ll never touch. Here’s what EVA is, why automotive engineers keep specifying it, and how it becomes a finished part.

What is EVA foam?

EVA — ethylene-vinyl acetate — is a closed-cell foam prized for a rare combination: it’s soft and flexible like rubber, light like foam, resistant to water and many chemicals, and it holds its shape and cushioning through years of compression cycles and temperature swings. Closed cells mean it doesn’t absorb water, which matters everywhere a vehicle meets weather.

How EVA becomes a part

As a converter, we start from commercially available EVA stock in the density and hardness your application needs, then die-cut, laminate, shape and thermal-form it to your drawing. Adhesive backing, multi-material laminations and precision cavities are all routine. The same fabrication line handles cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) and polyurethane foams, so mixed-material assemblies come from one supplier.
